- Requires quarterly updates of test data and reports of all listed ENERGY STAR products.
- Specifies accredited laboratory test data reports for all certified lamps to ensure safety and performance test criteria.
- DOE only adds models to its Qualified product list after review and approval of the product test results and product packaging.
ENERGY STAR testing includes the following:
- Lumen maintenance-lumens must be > 80% of initial lumens at 40% of life
- Color rendering (CRI)-must be greater than 80
- Rated lamp life-must complete lifetime test to stated rated lamp life on packaging
- Warranty -must have warranty & method for complaint resolution on lamp package
- Minimum efficacy-varies by lamp
- Color temperature-must be 2700-3000 Kelvin unless otherwise stated on packaging
- Run-up time-must be < 3 minutes
- Starting time-must be less than 1 second
