The Ministry for Gozo in collaboration with the Malta Organic Agriculture Movement (MOAM), will be organising a full day international conference entitled "Organic Agriculture and eco-Gozo – A world of challenges, opportunities and innovation." This conference is being held at the Kempinski Hotel, San Lawrenz, on Wednesday, the 17th of March 2010 at 9.00am.

Admission to the Conference is complementary but prior registration is recommended. Interested persons may register for the event by email at booking@moam.org.mt, telephone 99423711 or at www.moam.org.mt.

The conference will include contributions by speakers from Iceland, England, Germany, Malta, Slovenia, and Italy. The conference is aimed at participants from various sectors, among which, agriculture, policy, the environment, political institutions, producers, educators, tourism operators, and the general public.

The Ministry for Gozo is hosting this event, which is of particular importance for the eco-Gozo initiative which aims at achieving higher Sustainable Development practices on Gozo. Agriculture remains one of the more important sectors in Gozo, playing a very critical role both economically, environmentally and in the safeguarding of the island’s characteristic landscape.

This event will be accompanied by an art exhibition featuring works by four leading Maltese and Gozitan artists. These works will showcase a collection of works of art treating Gozo and its captivating natural beauty.
