Severin Sea Lodge, located close to Mombasa in Kenya , has been awarded with the Eco Warrior Award 2010 for innovation and leadership in responsible tourism. Severin Sea Lodge has reached rank 1 in the category 'Most Responsible Tourist Accommodation Facilities with more than 50 beds'.
The hotel complies with the principles of ecological tourism for over 20 years and has embarked on an active environment protection program.
Launched by Ecotourism Kenya in 2005, the Eco Warrior Award honours creativity within the tourism industry in Kenya and is meant to inspire innovative actions to protect the environment and integrate local people into the business of tourism.
The award is designed to recognize, encourage and applaud leadership and innovation in tourism business planning, development and management centred on community participation and natural resource conservation.
The nominated entities are evaluated by a team of judges who allocate marks according but not limited to how enterprise demonstrates the evaluation criteria.
